Joanne, Trinity-Anne and I drove to Montreal last weekend for my cousin Dan's wedding (photos). Amongst the highlight of our weekend:
- fall colors on the leaves during the drive
- Trinity-Anne and I walked to the top of Mont Royal the first morning we were there, going through the campus of McGill
-
Trinity-Anne and I briefly hiked through the Biosphere on the Expo 67 site.
- The wedding was at Château Vaudreuil, just off the west island. Nice spot, and Dan and Olimpia managed to get the tiny window of time where it wasn't raining to have an outdoor ceremony.
- Zen restuarant. It's kind of a Chinese buffet with interesting foods and flavours, but you give your order to the staff and they make what you want. Probably better to go with 4-6 people, because despite what they say the dishes are fairly big.
- free 4 night stay in a suite at the Hotel Omni Mont Royal. Great considerate staff, but no internet in the rooms. What's up with that?
- L’Entrecôte Saint-Jean. The menu: steak frites. Ummm, and that's at. It's always packed, so beware.
- BioDome. It's a combination walk-through zoo/aquarium on the grounds of the Olympic Stadium. I loved this place; my favorite caged nature place so far (next to the Monterey Bay Aquarium).
- Montreal Planetarium. Trinity-Anne and I walked to this from our hotel and she enjoyed the show about Draco the Celestial Dragon. I had several issues with this, the main being I think classical mythology is entertaining enough -- even for kids -- so there's no need to make up new stories to get kids interested in the sky.
-
Disclosure: I've now been in Montreal both times bridges have collapsed.
What's up with Quebec websites and Flash? Don't they have competent webdesigners there?
